Example Harris The 100th Harris family reunion was held at the Christine Harris Minipark in Smithfield. Martha West, the oldest living family member, led prayer before a picnic lunch. The Rev. Jim Harris presided for the business session where it was decided to extend the one-day reunion traditionally held on Labor Day to the entire Labor Day weekend and to add a Saturday evening dance at the American Legion Hall and attendance at Sunday morning church services at St. Paul AME Church followed by a family picnic lunch at the church. Officers elected were Harris, president; carole Jackson, vice president; Bernice Wilson, secretary; West, secretary emeritus; Francis Wilkerson, treasurer; Sandra Smith, assistant treasurer; and Annette Dameron, coordinator. Junior officers elected were Michele Johnson and Steve Cochran, president and vice president; Beverly Terry, secretary; Akisha Barnett, assistant secretary; Curtis Dameron, treasurer and Andre Harris, assistant treasurer and Craig Dixon, Diane Montgomery and Clarence Harris. Prize winners were awarded to West, Wilkerson and Bea Fullum, eldest members; Del Purit Smith, furthest traveled; Richard and Wendy Harris, most recently married; and Sandra Smith, Bernice Wilson, Annette dameron, Diane Crawford, Naomi Montgomery and Kaira Cooper, presidentŐs awards. Shaletta Smith receive the James harris sports Award; Christine Harris Scholastic Award, Stephanie Montgomery; and Wilson Education Award, Kaira Cooper. The Zella Stanton student $200 Aid Scholarship to be given to the most deserving youth with the highest grade point average will be added in 2005. it was founded by Carole Jackson, StantonŐs daughter, and Michele Johnson, granddaughter.
