Barbie Jones and Kenneth Smith

Janet and Skip Jones of Martinsburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Barbie Marie, to Kenneth Marlon Smith, son of Janine and Tim Smith of Martinsburg. Jones is a 1999 graduate of Martinsburg High School and a 2004 graduate of Shepherd University. She holds a bachelor's degree in psychology and is employed by New Head Counseling in Frederick, Md. Smith is a 1999 graduate of Hedgesville High School and a 2004 graduate of West Virginia University. He hold a bachelor's degree in English education and is employed as a teacher at Orchard View Intermediate School. A November 2005 wedding in Martinsburg is planned.


The Journal welcomes the chance to publish news of engagements, printed at no cost, in the Sunday Living section. Announcements are stamped for date received and run according to date and space available. A photo may be published with the announcement and be in jpg format in the highest resolution possible. Photos may also be mailed to or dropped off at The Journal at 207 W. King St., Martinsburg, WV 25401. Photos to be returned should include a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Do not send your only copy. We cannot guarantee a return. All announcements should be received by The Journal at least one month prior to the wedding, include a daytime phone number and are limited to 150 words. The Living staff retains the right to edit the announcement for length, style and clarity.
