SHEPHERDSTOWN - Ryan Ferns scored an unassisted goal at the 44:00 mark to lift Wheeling Jesuit to a 1-0 win over Shepherd University in West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's soccer quarterfinal action at Shepherd on Tuesday afternoon. Junior netminder Robert Pence had two saves for the Rams, while Chris Regan also had a pair of saves in a shutout effort for Wheeling Jesuit.
Shepherd completes its season with an 11-4-5 record. The Rams had an unbeaten streak of nine games before falling Sunday to the University of Charleston Shepherd's 11 wins fell one shy of the school mark of 12 set in 2002. Wheeling Jesuit (8-7-3) advances to semifinal action on Thursday.
