Example

Here's an example of a business news release with details invented to provide an illustration:

Please publish no later than June 26.

Clear Air Maui will open a kiosk at 2 p.m. Monday at Maui Nui Park.

The new establishment offers customers an opportunity to bottle clean Maui air to take back home to the Mainland. The bottles are light and easy to pack.

Each bottle costs $5, and the air comes with a slight fragrance of plumeria.

"Just imagine taking home a bit of Maui that's light, airy and fragrant," said Herb deFleur, owner of Clean Air Maui. "The bottle of Maui air makes a great conversation piece or gift for friends back home."

For more information, contact deFleur at 333-5353. His Web site can be found at www.clearairmaui.com.

Description

Business news items are published on a space-available basis. Maui News staffers rewrite news releases to conform to the newspaper's style and other editorial considerations. There is no charge for publication of business news items, although they are published only once.

Releases should be written succinctly and answer the questions: Who? What? When? Where? And, why? They also should include the full name and phone number (both day and evening hours) for a contact person available to answer questions. Direct quotations are optional and can be added to provide more color.

News releases should be submitted at least one week prior to publication. Requests for publication dates should be prominently highlighted at the beginning of news releases. Fees or costs to participate in an event should be clearly stated. Releases on events that have already happened should be submitted as soon as possible.
